Bowling Action Detection Using Smart Sensors
This project will develop a smart sensor-based framework that is capable of detecting recognizing different arm actions in the game of cricket. These actions include different types of bowling styles, deliveries as well as the legality of bowling action.
Motion corresponding to the bowling arm action performed by the user will be captured through a smart wrist sensor. Machine learning classifiers will be trained on different actions by the use of a training set and tested by using the test data. This project can help particularly in coaching a bowler to practice correct and comfortable bowling action in the game of cricket.
The aim of the project is to develop a bowling action and delivery analysis framework, which is able to identify the bowling action using smart sensors. The objectives of the project are:
1. Identify a list of bowling actions and styles, which need to be identified using smart sensors.
2. Data acquisition of different bowling actions for training the machine learning framework.
3. Develop an understanding of the machine learning framework.
4. Development of an algorithm for classification and analysis of bowling action and delivery.
5. Testing of the developed mechanism on test examples.
Following are implementation methods in a sequential way.
Our deliverable project will be a hardware device like wrist watche that the bowler has to wear on the wrist and forearm. It will deliver the type of bowling action and its validation on run time to the mobile App.
