The idea is to design a back massager that will provide massage therapy. The structure of our design mostly supports the devices found in the physiotherapy clinic. The motors used in the machine will have three different modes of speed, which will be controlled by Arduino and we will design an app for it for speed control and define the modes on it interfaced through the Bluetooth module.

Project Objectives

The aim of this project is to create a portable device that will be easy to carry around for people who are unable to attend physiotherapy and get easy therapy by themselves. 

Project Implementation Method

The system makes use of a linear actuator to provide the massage linearly across the back. The actuator moves the massage rollers which are connected through a spring-damper to the actuator. The motorized system moves the screw which in turn moves the actuator and massages rollers providing linear massage over the back. The speed of the motors is being controlled by Arduino which we have interfaced through a mobile app.
This entire arrangement is now mounted over two cylindrical rods to provide a horizontal movement in order to manually shift the massage path to the side of the back. This arrangement is portable and easy to carry around. These rods are then connected with belts to mount onto the user and also to adjust pressure by tightening them.

Benefits of the Project

It provides a human-like massage with adjustable pressure. The massage roller uses a spring arrangement to adjust as per your body shape. The system can work continuously for hours for long massages. It requires no human effort once started.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The project will be ready by February 1st, 2023 as we have to assemble the equipment and the working on the circuit and also the programming on the microcontroller.
