The purpose of this project is to save the precious lives which are affected due to road accidents every day, to achieve this objective our focus is on “Informing the rescue teams about the accident spot in time”.

According to the WHO’s infographics on road safety, nearly 1.25 million people die in road accidents every year, on average 3,287 dies a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled.

In this project, we will detect if any accident occur and send its location to Rescue Team.

To achieve this purpose, we connect piezoelectric sensors (vibration, and accelerometer), which detect the occurrence of an accident, locate the geographical coordinates at that instant and send it to the pre-saved number by GSM.

Project Objectives

The objectives of the project “Automatic Vehicle Accident Detection & Messaging System using GPS and GSM” are:

  1. To detect the accident, get the geographical coordinates and transmit the location via message to the rescue team. 
  2. To minimize the delay of ambulance to save the injured.
Project Implementation Method

A Piezoelectric sensor will first sense the occurrence of an accident and give its output to the controller.The GPS detects geographical coordinates of a Vehicle and send it to controller.Whenever an accident occurred, the controller send the geographical coordinates of the vehicle at that instant through GSM, to the phone number pre-saved in the EEPROM.

Benefits of the Project

This project is beneficial in a way that:

1.Inform the rescue team on time.

2.Life save, after the accident by informing to the rescue team.

3. Trrafic congestion is avoided due to early response of rescue team, in urban area.
