Project Summary

Today’s world is marching towards the rapid growth of all sectors including the agriculture field. Agricultural sector is changing the social as well as economic environment of the population due to globalization. Agriculture has been the backbone of the Pakistan economy and it will remain as it is for a long time. In Pakistan most of the people are living in rural areas and they are still dependent on the agriculture field but they are using old technique (conventional method). The conventional method is less efficient and time consuming. To meet the future food demand, the farmers have to implement the new technique which will not affect the soil texture but will increase the crop production. To overcome the drawbacks of conventional method we developing the seed sowing machine, this can perform different operations. The comparison between traditional sowing method and the proposed machine which can perform multiple operations. The main purpose of our machine is to automate the process of digging and seed sowing at proper distance and depth.It is very costly to use diesel as energy source and equally bad for environment as it produce air pollution .also ,if they power their machine with battery they need to charge it for working the machine but there are load shedding issues in rural areas. so we present this idea of solar seed sowing machine which is cheap in cost ,eco friendly ,self powered through solar panel and easy to operate Automatic

Project Objectives

To make a Automatic machine which can sow seeds in fields without any man power, which can   power itself with Solar Energy so that it can least cost to farmers and agriculture departments.

• It should operate itself according the distance fed in it to cover on the field.

•.To get a working system which can dig the soil, sow the seed and cover the seed with soil again all          automatically.

• To operate this machine using solar energy so that it can be cost efficient and eco friendly.

Project Implementation Method

The basic operation of sowing machine is to saw the seed in row at the required depth and maintain the distance between two seeds.
•Solar panel is used to capture solar energy and then it is converted into electrical energy
•This energy is used to charge 12V battery which is utilized by DC motors and Arduino.
•A rotating mechanism will be integrated with motor which will plough the soil according to the depth fed in microcontroller.
•Seed sowing mechanism will drop the seeds in the ploughed area.
•A movable blade will be mounted at the back of the machine which will level and cover the seeds with soil again.IR sensor will detect if the hopper is filled with seeds or not. If empty, it will trigger the buzzer.
•Ultrasonic sensor is used for detecting any obstacle that comes in its way. It will sense and stop the working mechanism.
•We enter the distance between two seeds trough keypad and machine will complete the path accordingly.
•LCD is used to display the battery level

By using this innovative project of seed sowing machine we can save more time required for sowing process and it also reduces laborer cost. This machine controls the seed depth and proper utilization of seeds to reduce the wastage of seeds

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

SOLAR PANEL
Solarpanel is used to capture solar energy from sunlight and then it is converted into electrical energy. This energy is used to charge 12V battery. We are using solar panel which is made up of photovoltaic (PV) cells
Battery
12 Volts Sealed Lead Acid Battery is being used to power Motors and Arduino.
Charger
A solar battery charger will be used to store solar energy in the battery converting it into electrical energy.
DC motor:
12v DC shunt motor will be used to move and operate the mechanism of the machine.

Sensors
IR sensor will be used to detect whether the container of seeds is empty or
not.
Ultrasonic sensor will be used to detect the obstacle in the path.
LCD
It is used to show the battery level and other parameters.
Keypad:
It is used to enter the distance how the machine needs to move.
Arduino
It will be used to interface the sensors, LCD, motor driver, switching and the mechanism of machine.
Hopper
It will contain the seeds. There will be two hoppers mounted on both side.
Wheels
Four wheels and rotating mechanism will be used to move the machine in all directions.
