Automatic number plate recognition and parking system is an image processing technology which uses number plate to identify the vehicle. The objective is to design an efficient automatic authorized vehicle identification system by using the vehicle number plate. The system is implemented on entrance gate for security control of high restricted area (like universities, military zones or area around top government offices e.g. Parliament, Supreme Court etc). The system first detect the vehicle and then captures the vehicle image. Vehicle number plate region is extracted. Optical character recognition technique is used for the character recognition. The data is then used to compare with the records on a database and then show the green signal to the security control. After the green signal is shown to the security control they will open the gate and user will be allocated to the parking related to his/her designation.

for example: If user is a admin worker then he will be allocated to the admin parking, if user is faculty member he will be allocated to faculty parking, if system detects any visitor it will also be allocated to the visitor parking.

Project Objectives

objective of the project is to recognize the vehicle on the enterance gate of any organization, to help the security staff to mantain the proper security of the organization. 

the recognition process is done by the image processing algorithum which help the system or security managers to recognize the vehicle. if the security manager get the signal from the system that vehicle is  registered so it can move in while in other case vehicle first have to verify it self by the security.
