In the era of automation, in Pakistan, many of the educational institutions use manual alert system for beginning and termination of class time. It means that when the bell is rung, it will be listened in whole block at all floors. Also, a special person is needed to take care of the class timings and to notify teachers as well as students about their class termination. But in the system of rotatory classrooms in which teachers have to take classes in different venues, this system carries two major problems: first is that it becomes difficult for the person to have record of full day class timings because venue of classes change frequently and most probably, that classroom is already engaged by any other teacher but they did not know that this bell was for us too. Second problem is that even the bell is rung in accordance to some student class time, the mind of other students generates a type of response that make them think that our class has ended, or they start thinking to leave the class. This becomes a psychological fence for students that affect their onward learning. The system we are proposing is Closed Automated Bell system that will only ring into the concerned class at right time and it will be connected to the computer system of program officer where he will be going to update the time of classes schedule daily.
Aims and Objectives of Project
If one is going to efficiently lead a project, there must be some organization involved. In order to get
the following progress we divide our methodology into different stages. In initial stage we will we working on literature review, we will study different research paper, journal, and article to get fully acknowledge about the working and practical application of our project and to know the need of our project for society. Then in the next stage we will be working on the experimental setup, we will analyse all the hardware component used in our project and we will check each device separately to ensure that either in working condition or not. Then we will work on hardware setup. We will design a complete prototype. Our next objective is to program microcontroller according to the timetable of our university. In the designing of algorithm, we will provide 220V A.C. power supply to the “Step-Down Transformer” which converts 220V A.C. into 12V A.C. Now this 12V A.C. is converted into 12V D.C. with the help of “Full Wave Rectifier”. Two different voltage levels are required for our circuit – One is 12V D.C. to operate relay switch. Second is 5V D.C. supply to operate microcontroller. For this purpose, we will use voltage regulator “LM7805” which can take 8V -25V as I/P and provide 5V constant voltage. Here we have used microcontroller to control various timing of the ringing. Here we also use a “12MHz Crystal” which will provide the microcontroller a reference time. We have used Real time clock (RTC) IC DS 1307 which is a low-power clock/calendar with 56 bytes of Battery-backed SRAM. It uses an external 32.768 kHz crystal. We have used display for the displaying the real time. The microcontroller can operate on 5V and 10mA current maximum, but we must operate 12V relay switch. In last we will analyse result and collect data from final output.
