In the daily news when going through the newspapers their misfortunes and accidents have become a common issue, particularly in terms of death rate and severity, etc. Consequently, extra efforts are crucial for promoting safety. Hence, the priority to have a modern and enhanced railway system is growing day by day plus being environmentally friendly in long distances to some extent. Thus, over the years, the railway networks had grown to serve a lot of people and contribute more to our economy. However, the current train accidents make the passengers consider otherwise. In the daily news when going through the newspapers their misfortunes and accidents have become a common issue, particularly in terms of death rate and severity, etc. Consequently, extra efforts are crucial for promoting safety. Hence, the priority to have a modern and enhanced railway system is growing day by day.
So, the railway track is an important part of the railway by which a train moves from one place to another and if in it any disasters came it cause the accident and fall of the whole train from the track and causes a lot of deaths. So, for solving those disasters we are making a system and model which first go on the track to check did the path is clear, did any obstacle in the path, did the track is broken or not, and then it sends the feedback towards the control room if the path is clear so we allow the train to move otherwise we solve the problem. And in it, we made an app that helps the management and the customers to check the alerts if there are any.
The automatic security system monitors & gives feedback to the management/control room.
Obstacle Detection (IR Sharp Sensor), Cracks Detection (Gyroscope), Communication Module (LoRa / RF) which detects the disasters & responds back to the control room.
User Applications (Control Room Applications & User Application (Driver) in which Emergency Alarm, sending problems) was developed for Control Room & for Driver.
As we know, our project is based on railway tracks, cracks and communication in long-distance, So for it first we have to make a model of all three parts (Dummy car, Locomotive & Passenger Car). Then we check each part of the model is working properly or not. If any issue came in we gonna solve it otherwise it's correct. We gonna use an Arduino board for our project which is cheap in cost and easy to use and read. Then we use an IR Sharp Sensor for crack detection and an ultrasonic sensor for obstacle detection and for communicating between train and control room we gonna use LoRa Module (Long Range Module) it gives us more than 10 km range and is easy to use. Then we have a passenger car in which we gonna install the automated door system which we made with the help of ultrasonic sensor and we gonna place it on 45 degrees on the door and fore detection or gas detection using gas and fire sensors and water pump system which help to make fire down.
Benefits of the ProjectAs we know, the railway has an important role in Pakistan and a lot of people travel by train every day. And it covers a lot of distance to travel from one city to another and between that distance there a lot of disasters came to like because of humans crack in railway track or upcoming train or if a signal is red for cars but a car was on track or any human came or fire or gas in a passenger car, etc. Nowadays we are using old methods for taking the information about the train that is moving and our project will help to solve these issues and when it detects the disaster it gonna send the feedback to the driver and then to control room so they know about the upcoming disaster and they will get alert and able to stop the train and send the rescue team as possible as soon. In past, if a little fire will occur on a train, it took a lot of time to reach the disaster location and help the train not get burned a lot. But our project gonna improve those issues and it is necessary nowadays to make our train travel more automated and safe.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableWe gonna deliver our project in a hard form, In which we have Four parts are 1 (Dummy Car which checks the route before the train starts journey), 2 (Locomotive which installs in a train engine which lives to monitor the route with train), 3 (Passenger car in which we have automated door for passenger safety, Fire and gas Sensor & water pump) and 4 (Communication modules in all above parts which act as a transmitter which transmit the detect data and one as a receiver which receives and shows the received data in the control room and we use LoRa Module (sx 1278 or 1276).
