We will record the lectures and after ending up the lecture it will directly store in memory of the device.

our hardware is consist of raspad(raspberry pi based tablet) made up of raspberry pi 3 b using operating system Raspbian a python based application will be developed which will consist of three window in a single frame one will show the casting screen of the instructor PC or class multimedia PC other window will show the web cam screen which focuses the teacher and third window will show the controls for starting, pausing and ending of the lecture.

When instructor ended the lecture in raspad the lecture will directly stored in memory of raspberry pi in a format seems below in figure 2 and figure 3

Project Objectives

Lecture recording refers to the process of recording and archiving the content of a lecture, conference or seminar globally.

It consists of a hybrid approach based on hardware and software components which records audio and visual components of the lecture with less human intervene.

Lecture recording plays an important role in online learning and distance education.

Most of them are recorded by a cameraman or a static camera. In this project we propose an automatic lecture recording system.

In Pakistan for the first time Iqra University installed E-learning system which is very reliable but it costs more than 300 million Dollars.

Our proposed lecture recording system using raspberry pi would be cost effective and reliable as well.

Project Implementation Method

This project will be implemented in a way that the instructor of the lecture will hold the respad (raspberry pi-based tablet) in which our designed application will be installed when instructor opens the application on tablet it will show him three window as shown in figure:1 below.

First window will show the webcam which focus on the instructor during the delivery of the lecture

Second window will cast the whole screen of the multimedia through ip server

Third window will show the controls(play, pause and end) which will control by the instructor when instructor tap on the play button lecture recording will be started, pause button use to compensate any interval between the lecture and on taping on the end button the lecture will be end and stored in the memory.  

Benefits of the Project

The lecture captures enhance the learning experience for students. They can go back and learn something from the beginning if they cannot grasp it for the first time.

As there is a provision to watch the captured lecture from anywhere at any time, the learners will have more control on their learning process.

The lecture captures are a brilliant idea for students in distance learning programs.

It is also helpful for part-time students who cannot make it to some of the classes as they are busy working.

Lecture capture is also helpful for the international students who do not reside at the place of the classroom.

The recorded lectures of a particular course would be saved in e-learning platform.

Teachers can reuse the recording content for future use.

Lecture captures are a good idea for students who are physically not present in the class room.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The application consists of three windows one for slide display, one for webcam which will capture lecturer video and third window will be used for control (play/pause/end)

The lecturer will load the lecture on the class PC that PC screen should be replicated to the window of tablet when teacher tap on the play button it will start recoding the lecture and when lecturer tap on the end button the lecture recorde video will save in the memory.
