Our traditional education system has become mundane and less inviting over the past few years causing lack of student attraction towards studies and increasing number of dropouts. A big drawback of using the traditional classroom is its inability to address individual learner needs, leading to a lack of attention and interest among students. The main purpose of working in the field of science is that over the last few years, a large number of students has decreased in the science subjects due to complex studies. Working on Augmented Reality, we can bring liveliness to the classroom, helping student visually understand the concept and minimizing misconception that occurs due to lack of visualization. Having a 3 dimensional object, students would be able to conceptualize the topics in a better way. Additionally, it would create a sense of interest among students. 
In order to convert the traditional system into more interactive form for students to develop more interest, People are now taking initiative of introducing advanced technology into the education system after realizing that the traditional methods are failing to engage students. Since this era, specially the new generation is all about advancing technologies; education system can take advantage of it by introducing interactive methods of learning to the schools. Different people have worked in various different domains using AR, but it has recently attracted attention in the education area.
For instance, an app that is working in the fields of chemistry, which shows molecular structure of the chemicals once the name of an element is detected. Another application is working specifically with the learning of solar systems. We are generalising the concept of science in our application.

Project Objectives

For the last decade, our life style has been changing every passing day. From our ways of communicating with people to our ways of getting conveyance, technology has effected every part our life.  Unfortunately, to this day, the education system in our school has been the least effected. With technologies like smart phones, mind sets of the students these days have changed too. Books have seemed to lose their charm and traditional learning techniques has become mundane and less effective, as it’s not as interactive and attention grabbing as the student of today’s era would like which can result in the following problems:
Lack of attention: The problem that could be the root of all issues is lack of student’s attention. For some students it can be hard to sit in one place and listen to someone speak about the subject that is already a little hard to grasp which results in students not being able to pay attention or take interest towards the lecture. 
Decreasing number of science student: With new discoveries coming in everyday, science subjects are getting more complicated and with the traditional chalk and talk method it can be difficult to grasp the concepts and develop interest. Students have started to find comfort in other subjects like business and computer science as its way more practical, reducing the number of science students.
Decaying imagination and creativity: Constantly looking at lifeless 2d pictures and trying make sense out of it have made students dull and less creative. Traditional system allows students only to memorize what was already present and not actually be curious and have interest to learn other than what the book has to offer.
Vague understanding of subjects: With all of the above issues combined students are now staying very limited to their books and in class lecture resulting in vague understanding of the subject which can either stop them from pursuing science subjects or can be a burden even if they opt of it. Our objective is to restore the interest of students with interactive learning via Augmented reality application and to overcome this problem.

Project Implementation Method

For the development of any application there must have several platforms required. But we are using the most recommended, efficient and the most effective software for which the application will fulfill all requirement which we are making for. For this augmented reality application we are using multiple numbers of software as per required for the application.

We are using VUFORIA SDK for augmented reality with Unity 3D. We are using AutoDesk Maya for the rendering of models.

Vuforia: Vuforia software development kit is used for the detection of augmented object's utilize techniques for getting ,preparing,examing and mapping pictures in high measurements .They utilize this data to perceive pictures, similar to rocks and on the grounds that the pictures(AR moving continuously in reality) are expected to refresh quickly. Vuforia enables individuals to extend pictures like a 3D model (or sprite) and different things in reality. Normally it is done by a cell phone, utilizing the camera to see the pictures, and guide a 3D model to the pictures. Or on other hand basically it would seem that the virtual object is a piece of this augmented reality.

Unity 3D: Today with the utilization of the game engine Unity 3D and the Vuforia stage, making mixed reality content has turned out to be considerably less demanding and much easier. In any case, there are still difficulties to consider. One of the numerous points of interest of Unity is that it is a game engine that has the likelihood to convey an excessive number of stages as IOS and Android. It is use for creating a user-friendly interface and to detect the augmented object with the help of Vuforia development kit Unity 3D platform is utilizing in this application.

AutoDesk Maya: Autodesk Maya is an industry leading 3D animation software application developed by Autodesk that enables video professionals who work with animated film, television programs, visual effects, and video games to create highly professional three-dimensional (3D) cinematic animations.

AUGMENTED LEARNING will help students of our country take more interest towards science at a younger age. A 3D view to help the students for better understanding of the topics that are otherwise difficult to grab. 

Students will easily get the concepts of science and technology. 

This will also help in Digital Revolution in Pakistan and bring the digital means of learning to the particular Primary age group of Pakistan. 

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

An application working with Android (iOS in future scope).

With minmum android requirement of Android 6, published on Google Play Store (and Apple App Store in future).
