Shopping malls around the world are moving towards more smartphone-enabled customer services to allow customers to have a seamless experience at shopping malls by allowing them to locate facilities directly through their smartphones. AR-GO is a mobile application which helps to navigate in shopping malls with the help of an Augmented Reality based application, making it easier to navigate around shopping mall saving customer’s time and giving quick access to personalized promotions through push and augmented notifications in application. The Stores/Outlets can leverage the facility of proximity marketing to reach more customers, retarget them and get better returns on their retail outlets. The customers will have the solution on mobile at their fingertips where stores would have their personalized dashboard. We are the google maps for indoor but personalized and better.

Project Objectives

The AR-GO project will meet the following objectives:

  1. Indoor Navigation.
    1. Providing offline 2D-Navigation in more than 85% of android mobiles by using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
    2. Augmented Reality Navigation on AR-Core supported android devices which will provide enhance experience to the users.
  2. Providing proximity marketing to the stores/brands available in the shopping malls by using location-based Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacons. Outlet/Stores advertisement will be prompted in the form of notifications when the customer is in the range of beacons. The promotions would be set by the stores through web panel, all the stores would have their profile where they would be able to put up promotions and view live statistics of customers engagement with the promotion.
Project Implementation Method

Firstly, we will understand the architecture of android application. The path finding and navigation with
the beacons (localization of mobile devices), how does the application integrate cloud services to provide
indoor positioning for providing 2D/AR navigation. To understand the principles of proximity marketing
and how it is achieved with beacons and then how the stores will be updating their advertisement content
dynamically from web portal.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

An android application which helps in navigation by providing 2D/Augmented Reality Navigation in a shopping mall and provides intent based notifications of promotions in real-time.

A web portal for outlets where they can upload their promotions and view live statistics of engagement with customers all from a neat dashboard.
