The users could depict 3D Models of elements,compounds and real time chemial reactions.By placing specific cards in front of the camera, the user would depict the 3D animations of atomic structures and real time reactions augmented on specific cards.
The models of compounds and reactions are shown by combining 2 or more cards of elements.
Project ObjectivesThe project is an absolute solution for students learning complicated chemistry concepts. It is an augmented reality-based application that facilitates students in visualizing 3D Models of atomic structures and chemical bonding. In addition to this, application provides students an experience of real time chemical reactions without the need of any physical laboratory.
The user just has to place cards of specific elements in front of mobile camera and could easily depict respective 3D Models and animations using the application.
Project Implementation MethodMarker based augmented reality provides the main core of the application
- Firstly.3D Models and animations are built using 3D graphic building softwares ie Blender and Maya.
- Elements cards are built for all the required elements These cards work as target images. All these cards are stored in Vuforia database that are integrated in unity 3D. Detection of these markers on cards by the camera would result in 3D models and animation augmented in real environment.
- Android application will be build using Unity 3D engine and Android studio development kit.
Our approach towards the project is to make learning chemistry a child’s play rather than complicated. Our project provides learning chemistry lessons using augmented reality displaying 3D Models and animations of elements, compounds and chemical reactions
- AR learning provides a gamified approach towards learning; which makes the lessons fun. As a result, it serves a positive impact on the students and keeps them engaged.
- This interactive learning does not require any extra learning materials and tools other than mobile phone which is mostly available for students and teachers. Due to this reason this application would be very appealing and alluring for the new generation.
- Students could perform chemical reactions visually without need of a practical laboratory. Students can use the application anytime and anywhere. It is the best way to replace posters, huge physical models etc.
- Learning based on virtual world augmented on real world through mobile application provides a whole new platform of education and erudition to students. Students are responding to these apps in an optimistic manner.
With the perspective of developers,Our application is based on STEM learning. Many institutions can buy the application in order to implement STEM learning. We will provide free demonstration to the willing users before selling it. This augmented reality approach towards learning would be fascinating in the market and this strategy would provide handsome of customers
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe final deliverables of the project consist of mobile application for learning and experiencing chemistry concepts and desktop application of administration panel for managing 3D Models and animation.
The mobile application is built using Unity 3D engine for integrating all 3D animations on specific target images.Unity 3D provides powerful environment to help developer augment 3D Models on target images with the help of vuforia
Target Images of each card are stored in vuforia database to set markers to be detected by the camera
3D animations are built using belender.Blender provides appropriate toolset for creating 3D experience.
