Nowadays, smartphones have reached each and every home. As a result, people are making use of the helpful mobile applications to make their everyday life easier. The first-aid helps participants recognize and respond
appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first-aid emergencies through App.

In this project, we intend to develop an Android-based application for emergency medical support that can be used by common people in case of a medical emergency when professional support is not available on site.

The application will facilitate its user to contact skilled medical help, and seek advice for initial management of the patient.

The application will include a registry of skilled medical emergency volunteers including first-aid workers, AED and CPR workers, paramedics, nurses, and doctors who can be contacted for initial medical response. Through this proposed application, an onsite user/witnesses can search and contact nearby or remote professionals by broadcasting emergency details. Registered medical skilled doctors can guide to witness how to provide first-aid.  A nearby volunteer can come on location by following GPS location on witness’s phone at his/her earliest.

Basically the app will support initial mediation in a serious condition prior to professional arrival of medical help, such as performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while waiting for an ambulance, as well as detailed treatment of minor conditions, such as applying a plaster to a cut. 

The idea is to make the Android application publically available to common people through Google Play Store. The app user need not be a trained person in first-aid or CPR. As an eye witness of a medical emergency, the user can consult trained professionals by providing incident details and call them on site in real time.

Project Objectives

The purpose of this project is to design and develop an app that will provide emergency qualified help required to provide first-aid response to victims. This would be a very big help for those who triggers awareness in giving amount of knowledge regarding this issue and for everyone in first-aid case emergency happens. Like they can help through medical emergency response app.

Our main objectives for developing this application are:

  1. To provide global positioning system (GPS) to the nearest volunteer.
  2. To develop an application that giving first-aid knowledge by medical professionals to the user by using this application.
  3. Simple Step by step (how to) guidelines in conducting first aid.
  4. Medical skilled doctors contact numbers
  5. Reserve life.
  6. Prevent illness or injury from becoming worse.
  7. Relieve pain, if possible.
  8. Promote recovery.
  9. Protect the unconscious.
  10. This application will only run on android devices.    
Project Implementation Method

This android app for medical emergency response will be developed and executed by waterfall method. This water fall method is a life cycle model for software engineering. The main reason of implementation this model at this project is that it is simple to implement and resource required is minimal. 

The purpose of selecting this model is that requirements are complete and clearly define. The task was to develop a system through which admin can broadcast message using web portal and clients can listen it on their android devices no additional functionality was added into the system which cause change in model selection. But in design phase many changes were made.

So the process mode we adopt for developing this project is Iterative model. Because this is the only SDLC model we  found suitable for my project development.

Benefits of the Project

First-aid helps make sure that the right way of administering medical assistance are provided. Knowing a way to help someone is simply as necessary in emergency situations. It only takes six minutes for the human brain to stop due to lack of oxygen.

This aims to develop an application for helping users to broad their knowledge and can help victims by using potentially lifesaving techniques which can be perform with minimal instructions. By the use of this application users can help those who are seeking for first-aid treatment.
