Analysis & Implementation of DC Chopper
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryWe are going to make a power electronic trainer, the purpose of
this trainer is conversion of DC from one level to another level.
This trainer includes power electronic circuits such as buck
converter which have principle of convert of input of voltage into low
output voltage. In the buck converter there we see behaver of
different electronic component used in buck circuit as inductor
current, inductor voltage, diode voltage , capacitor current and the
output voltage.
Boost converter are a circuit which convert DC low voltage into DC
high voltage. It’s circuit is different from buck converter and this
circuit also consist of switch, diode, inductor and capacitor. Change
the value of this circuit we will get different output voltage.
Another basic switch converter is Buck-boost converter is the
combination of above two this one has duel principal it’s output
voltage either low or high depends on circuit internal component by
increasing his value. Output voltage magnitude of the buck-boost
converter may be less than that source voltage or greater than that
source voltage. It’s depending the duty cycle ratio of the switch. If D>

0.5 then output voltage is greater than input, if D < 0.5, then ou tput is
less than input voltage.
to achieve better conversion efficincy of converter.
for the pourpuse of learning and teaching ,an easy to use and easy to handle module is intended featuring proper functionality of buck ,boost and buck-boost converter.
accessibility to all the terminals will enable the user to use the module as a test banch for other associated circuit and modification in the existing one as well.

- Isolated DC-DC converters have high voltage isolation from several hundreds to thousand volts depending on the type of standard .
- Output can be configured to be either positive or negative or floating ground for various equipment.
- They have strong noise and interference blocking capability thus provide the load with a cleaner DC source which is required by many sensitive load(Medical Applications).
The aim of this project is that to analyze simulate & implement of DC chopper . The use of DC-DC power converters is continuously growing in power electronics [1]. Our aim is to achieve better conversion efficiency and minimized size and cost of converter within acceptable range. Modeling and simulation generally form an integral part of design process. The simulation tools are increasingly important in the development of new system and their optimum design[2]. This project design and simple method of modeling DC-DC converter using MATLAB/Simulink.
