An IoT Based monitoring of a Covid patient during quarantine
The current pandemic of COVID-19 has highly affected the entire globe. As the number of patients of COVID-19 has been increased, it has been advised by government bodies to lock down different cities/areas of the country. The reason was to stop the spike of an increasing number of patients so that the available resources of the hospitals can be utilized for critical patients only. The lockdown not only helped in decreasing the number of affected people but helped to avoid the collapse of available medical facilities.
In addition, many COVID-19 patients are not willing to be admitted to the hospital-based because of two main reasons:
Many patients preferred to quarantine themself at their homes, however, unfortunately, many such patients are died because of no monitoring of their health in quarantine.
This proposal suggests developing a mechanism by which a COVID-19 patient can be monitored while he/she is quarantine. Most precisely, critical statistics of fever and blood pressure can be measured by sensors which would be sending the data regularly to the concerned persons (family members, doctors). For this, an IoT based application is suggested to be implemented.
The main objectives of the project are as follows:
The application contains the user registration menu. The patient will register himself on the android application after wearing the IoT band. The doctor will get an alert after every new patient is registered. Then the doctor will start getting all patients' data from that sensor band so he can monitor his health and geographic location. The patient will have guest privileges and the doctor will have administrative privileges.
Monitoring:
Results from the sensor band will be shown on the end-user that will probably be a doctor who can monitor patients' health via results of the sensor band.
Benefits of the Project are:
The tools and language that will be used in the proposed project are:
Flutter:
Flutter is an open-source UI software development kit created by Google. It is used to develop applications for Android, iOS, Linux, Mac, Windows, Google Fuchsia, and the web from a single codebase.
MAXREFDES100# (Health Sensor Platform 2.0):
The microcontroller we will be using probably will be the health sensor platform 2.0 (HSP 2.0). This microcontroller will be configured with the android application via Bluetooth connectivity. This can be replaced by an Arduino as HSP2.0 is not easily available. If we will choose Arduino then all the sensors will be bought separately.
Python 3.0:
We would prefer Python for all our development and configuring purposes as Python is highly reliable and the presence of third-party modules makes it more user-friendly.
Process:
The application contains the user registration menu. The patient will register himself on the android application after wearing the IoT band. The doctor will get an alert after every new patient is registered. Then the doctor will start getting all patient's data from that sensor band so he can monitor his health and geographic location. The patient will have guest privileges and the doctor will have administrative privileges.
