Project Title

An IoT Based Low Cost Interactive Surveillance System

Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject Summary

Although demand for traditionally adopted CCTV video and RFID based asset surveillance systems in public and private environments is growing but there are several defects represented by these two approaches. The video surveillance systems are costly, requires continuous human monitoring, non-interactive like raising the alarm in your shop while you are away from shop resting in home, picture is indistinct, complex structure, poor stability; lot of storage space is needed to save the surveillance information, needs continuous voltage supply while RFID based surveillance systems have the issue of premises. Both approaches rely on heavy infrastructure deployment i.e. external voltage supply, computers systems, monitors, DVRs, RFID antennas and readers. In case of failure of any of the equipment makes the system useless. CCTV and RFID based models works in isolated sort of environment lacking the features of asking for assistance from security personnel’s and identifying the nearest possible assistance source like information about the shortest distance police patrolling party. A clear trend indicates that users are looking for the anti-theft systems that not only capable to protect asset but also to prevent loss. The prevention can only be realized if the subscriber is alerted in real-time and the details of occurrence are recorded in the monitoring system for tracking. On the other side, those who can help you may not have the incidence locality information and manually interchanging the locality information may cause a costly delay in tackling the incidence.

Project Objectives

This system proposes an IoT based low cost model for reactive assets surveillance and smart policing comprising of motion and laser sensors, a programmable chip, assets owner module, a web-based police station module for connectivity with assets owners. The motion and laser sensors will be deployed in assets locality. The programmable chip will inform the assets owner when an un-wanted and suspicious movement is detected in the surveillance premises. The owner after getting notified for a suspicious happening will have a variety of options to use i.e. raise an alarm in the asset’s locality; activate the flashing lights so that the intruder knows that he/she is being monitored. The assets owner module can help inform the concerned police station and provide information about nearest patrolling party. Once an intrusion reported to police station, the web-based police station module will retrieve the assets owner and incident location information from the cloud database. This information exchange will be useful for a timely help in tackling the intrusion.

Project Implementation Method

First of all connect the device which we are prepared to the computer and then the start to connect with internet through wifi and they report to the user. After report to user I am now active and the active time and if there is any intrusion detected first they take the photos and also notify the user there intrusion and further user are responsible fore they can photo either they take photos, start alarm on it or ON lighting on it  so on.

Benefits of the Project

This IoT based low cost interactive surveillance system aims to provide on time security to buildings, shops and specific rooms equipped with mobile platform applications and web based dashboard. They give benefits on time when there is intrusion is detected they notify the user it a time not other CCTV cameras only recording the scene nothing to do biggest benefits is that.
