SUMMARY
The traditional complaint system for a faulty transformer is very less efficient and makes the people suffer a lot. People use a manual complaint system which is time-consuming and not efficient. Due to slow service, the authorities lose their worth to people. In industry, as a transformer fault ends in the loss of millions. The solution to this real-time problem is IOT based Electricity Breakdown Solution (EBS). EBS is a fully automatic fault detection and complaint registration system which will detect a fault in a transformer. It will also predict a transformer failure and will inform and notify the responsible authority through an interface. Different types of sensors like current sensors, temperature sensors, and oil sensor are used in EBS to sense current, temperature oil level and short circuit pole. EBS will give relief to people safe their time, life and will also help the authority to take action on time which will increase the life of the transformer. An android interface will be used in EBS to provide user interaction and also a web module to access cloud data. So, EBS is a modern and innovative approach to make the complaint system efficient give relief to society, also make the transformer more efficient and will also impact the economy of the country.
OBJECTIVES
The proposed solution will be based on Web and android applications using IoT technology and sensors, to achieve the following objectives.
METHODOLOGY
EBS is composed of two types of components i-e hardware component and software component. The hardware component consists of an Arduino chip, GSM module, current sensor, temperature sensor, oil level sensor, and a safety box to make EBS survive against harsh weather conditions and against man-made hazards like Ariel firing, etc. The software component consists of an android interface and a web module to maintain a record. Sensors installed in the system take readings of current through current sensor, temperature through temperature sensor, oil level through oil sensor and short circuit pole also through a current sensor. The readings recorded by the sensors are taken in multiplexing mode by a microcontroller Arduino. Then the readings are sent directly through a GSM module a dedicated IP that displays the readings in real-time web-based interface connected to a PC / Laptop or mobile for display. The real-time data can also be seen on an android app interface connected to the microcontroller. Using these methodologies through EBS the responsible authorities would be able to predict a fault in any particular transformer and can also identify a fault in a transformer without any manual complaint system.
BENEFITS
EBS will automatically detect faults which occur in the transformer due to accidental breakdowns such as a link down, low oil level, over-temperature and pole short circuit. It will automatically register a complaint against any fault. And it will also show the current status of the transformer. EBS will show alerts and notifications in case of any fault in the transformer through an android interface and will show it on a display. It will help in record keeping of the transformer. It will also keep a complaint record of the transformer.
FINAL DELIVERABLE
The final deliverable will consist of the hardware capable of detecting all the faults occurring in the transformer. The android app will show the faults sent by the GSM. An employee will be able to receive alerts on the android app and would be able to take actions against it. An admin will be able to access the EBS web portal and supervise live readings and map.
