Agri Market Place
Project Area of Specialization Computer ScienceProject SummaryWhile the demand for food and other agricultural commodities continues to increase globally, supply from traditional producers and traditional regions is not projected to keep pace. Increasing concern about future food scarcity and the opportunity to boost agricultural production in agriculturally-viable land in Pakistan to meet food needs has attracted a surge of investment interest and activity. This new context creates risks and opportunities. Increased investment in Pakistan agriculture can bring macrolevel economic development benefits and livelihood improvement for millions living in rural areas. Conversely, large-scale land acquisitions may result in local people losing access to critical resources on which they depend and can accelerate irreversible natural resource consumption.
Project ObjectivesAmbitious sustainable agriculture goals should be focused on eliminating water quality impacts, avoiding water overuse and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions in supply chains. Your goals should target these impacts in all your major crops that are critical to the production of your final product as an ingredient (e.g., row crops are feed for livestock) or as the product itself (e.g., almonds).
Best-in-class goals go beyond the company’s direct supply chain and commit to partnering with local natural resource organizations, governments and other stakeholders working to reduce agricultural negative impacts and increase positive impacts on the ground. Other ambitious goals may be combined with procurement or sourcing goals
Project Implementation MethodThe marketing facilities for agricultural products in Pakistan are still far from satisfactory level.
Our cultivators cannot get just prices for their produce due to defective marketing organization.
Moreover, the chain of middlemen between the producers and ultimate consumers takes a heavy share of their produce. Lack of participation by people, local bodies, NGOs farmers' organization and industrial association. Very high difference in price between the farmers’ realization and consumer even for the fresh produce. In processed food the high price of raw materials, excessive spoilage, inefficient and costly transportation, high cost of finance due to high taxes and duties leads to low demand of processed foods.
Benefits of the ProjectIn Pakistan there are 43,55 percent of low-education people where majority depend on life as farmer and the needs of farmers for information in agriculture are very diverse. So far, farmers have only used agricultural information for generations. So that the User Centered Requirements Engineering (UCRE) method is needed as a process of classifying farmers information needs that are very diverse and packaged into an integrated agricultural information application design model. The results of the application design obtained usability size by 80.32% and correctness by 79% so that, it illustrates a good quality value of the application based on the need for usefulness and accuracy of information on the McCall method testing.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableIn most Pakistan, Asian and Latin American countries, about 90 per cent of rural households are involved in farming in one form or another. On average they obtain between 70 per cent (Pakistan) and 50 per cent (Asia, Latin America) of their household income from farming activities (Davis, Winters et al. 2010). To promote these income-earning opportunities, expansion of the rural transport infrastructure often focuses on developing small farmers’ access to the market, to improve their marketing opportunities and the supply of inputs.
