Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryRecognizing the vehicle number plates is a much needed system. This system is already applicable in so many countries but we want to make some advancements in it. So here we are proposing a Raspberry Pi based vehicle number plate recognition system that automatically recognizes vehicle number plates using image processing. We will set a zone or the area, when the vehicle is entered in the parking the camera automatically detects its number plate. We will practice this project on two provinces Punjab and Federal so by reading there plates we also tell from which province this vehicle belongs to. The Camera will also make a customizable excel sheet which note the number plates of vehicles and record the data of all of the day and if we want the record of some specific vehicle we can simply get the record by just placing its plate number in the sheet. The camera output will be visualizing online by sending data over internet or WIFI.
Project Objectives- To detect the number plates of Punjab and Federal Vehicles.
- Maintaining a record of all vehicles in Excel sheet which is customizable.
- The data will be available online.
- Counting Of Vehicles.
In the begining of this project firstly we have install Linux operating system in Raspberry Pi 4.Then after installing linux we have install Open Cv and it's Related softwares and libraries in it.Then we have started working on codes.Firstly we have implemented our project on a given data set and after completeion we started working on the realtime data.In starting, the code had low accuracy and errors in the recognition of number plates.Then we have optimize the Code and make it work on Maximum Accuracy.After completing the recognition process we have started working on Availability of data Online with Recording the Data of number plates in excel sheet.One more thing we have added in this project is we are counting the Vehicles on thier Entry point.
Benefits of the ProjectThis project has many benefits. It will be use in parking lots in all commercial sectors including in highly restricted areas. As we implement this project and maintaing the record of all of data of incoming vehicles in site security increased. Also by counting the vehicles and recognizing the types of vehicles we can see that how many vehicles enters in our site per day and area in specific time period.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableWe had implement this project in two provinces Punjab and Federal to avoid different complexities in different licence plates of different provinces.By maintaining the record of all of the data of licence plates security will be enhaced because we have the record that how many which vehicles enters in our site.Also data will be available online, we can see live that which vehicle is going to enter in the site or we can say we see live view of camera which we place outsite the site.By counting of vehicle we can manage the area for parking of vehicles.
