Project Area of Specialization Information & Communication TechnologyProject SummaryThe current pandemic of COVID-19 has highly affected the entire globe. As the number of patients of COVID-19 has been increased, it has been advised by government bodies to lock down different cities/areas of the country. The reason was to stop the spike of increasing number of patient so that the available resources of the hospitals can be utilized for critical patients only. The lock down not only helped in decreasing the number of effected people, but helped to avoid the collapse of available medical facilities.
Although, the administrative measure were in place to deal efficiently in current pandemic, however it has been reported widely that many COVID-19 patients do not survive because of the unavailability of available resources of the hospital that includes unavailability of:
- Ventilators
- Relevant doctors
- Blood
Because of no run time available information, relatives of COVID-19 patient were bringing there patient from one hospital to other.
In this project, a mechanism to collect real time information regarding the aforementioned resources will be developed. With this, the hospital management will keep updating the available resource to a centralized data base. The user will have all the critical information such as cost of the facilities, availability of doctors etc,. even before moving to any specific hospital. Not only this, but reservations of the required facilities can also be obtained by using a simple android application.
Project ObjectivesThe main objectives of the project is as follows:
- A through literature review to collect data of COVID-19 patients in Pakistan.
- To device a mechanism by which the health relevant facilities for COVID-19 patient can be collected well in time.
This project is based on database, object oriented programming language and networking. MySQL is used in storing the data for the patients. This project will use JAVA as front end software and MySQL for database and back end connectivity.
In this project, there will be two interfaces. One for the user/patient, when a user clicks on the “Hospital" widget, the application picks the current location by GPS and points out all pinned hospitals and PCR testing labs in the area on the map with all the information about the resources. The other interface would be for the hospital management who will create an account and from that account they will be able to update the real time availability of the resources.
Benefits of the ProjectThe benifits of the project are as follows:
- Patient can easily track the real time availability of resources in the hospitals around them.
- It would save time of patient while going to the nearest hospital.
The final deliverable would be an android application. The tools used in this project are as follows:
- MySql database.
- Android Studio.
- GPS.
- Internet connection.
This project will use JAVA as front end software and MySQL for database and back end connectivity.
